ART TO TAKE - 25 years of Artothek
From March 14 to April 14, 2024, the Kunsthaus Wiesbaden presented the exhibition “ART TO TAKE” to mark the 25th anniversary of the Artothek Wiesbaden. Twenty-five years ago, on March 13, 1999, art enthusiasts were able to borrow works of art from the Artothek for the first time. The opportunity to engage with original works from the city’s art collection—which comprises around 4,000 objects—in one’s own home has enjoyed great popularity since its inception. The collection includes works by artists from Wiesbaden, as well as regional and international artists.
For the first time, the exhibition “ART TO TAKE” showcased current works by 40 Wiesbaden-based artists who are also represented in the Artothek and who are offering these works for sale to mark the anniversary, including works by Julia Belot, Dirk Brömmel, Alexandra Deutsch, Udo W. Gottfried, Helena Hafemann, Tjark Ihmels, and Margareta Tovar. With over 150 works, the extensive exhibition offered a unique overview of the Wiesbaden art scene, which presented itself at the Kunsthaus for four weeks with works ranging from painting and sculpture to photography and installation art. A multifaceted supporting program featuring guided tours—including those in English and with sign language interpreters—as well as artist speed-dating sessions accompanied the exhibition.
