Why are we creative? What makes an idea a good idea? What is the source of genius in creative people?

For over thirty years, filmmaker and author Hermann Vaske has been asking prominent artists, activists, and thinkers of our time these questions. More than 1,000 have responded to him—some with autographs or short statements, many with drawings or artifacts. Some very personal, others bizarre. The Kunsthaus is showcasing the funniest, most astonishing, and most enlightening responses from Hermann Vaske’s collection.
 
Accompanying program and interactive station
A diverse supporting program featuring guided tours, a reading, a workshop, and a film screening accompanied the exhibition. Admission to the Kunsthaus is free. Visitors could also get involved in the exhibition themselves by answering the question “Why Are You Creative?” with a creative contribution and sticking it on the wall in the Kunsthalle.
