For the eighth time, the state capital of Wiesbaden awarded a scholarship to support artists in memory of Wiesbaden’s honorary citizen Christa Moering. The scholarship was contingent upon the creation of an artistic work in the following year. Markus Walenzyk received the Christa Moering Scholarship on the theme of “Human” in 2022. The Wiesbaden-born artist engaged intensively with the given theme, focusing on his own portrait. He experimented with various materials, creating new, artificial forms, figures, mask-like faces, and enigmatic elements. His aim was to artistically explore the concept of identity. Walenzyk is not limited to the field of video art. He utilized a variety of techniques, including graphic works and sculptures, many of which are large-scale installations.
