Nina Sten-Knudsen, born in Copenhagen in 1957, studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. Her works can be found in major private and public collections, such as the Statens Museum for Kunst, the Louisiana Museum, and the Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz. She is the recipient of the Eckersberg Medal (2000). Nina Sten-Knudsen’s places, illuminated in diverse ways, are to be understood as landscapes of the soul—more as historical or political stages or scenic sequences than as the real world. They deal with flight, with life in niches, with self-reflection in art—reading, singing, building sculptures. In the exhibition series “Art about …,” the second monographic exhibition was dedicated to the unusual, richly thematic work of a painter who has a special relationship with narrative.
