February 12 - April 19, 2026: Rosa Winkel - The Wiesbaden City Archive as a guest Kunsthaus
The Wiesbaden City Archive was a guest at the Kunsthaus from February 12 to April 19, 2026 and showed the exhibition "Rosa Winkel. Prisoners persecuted as homosexuals in the Buchenwald and Mittelbau-Dora concentration camps".
The exhibition "Pink Triangle: Prisoners Persecuted for Homosexuality in the Buchenwald and Mittelbau-Dora Concentration Camps" shed light on the fate of the approximately 700 men who were deported to the Buchenwald and Mittelbau-Dora concentration camps because they were homosexual. They were forced to wear a pink triangle on their prison uniforms as a mark of identification. The exhibition not only highlighted the suffering in the concentration camps but also depicted the period that followed, as discrimination did not end in 1945. It was on view from February 12 to April 19, 2026.
The exhibition was developed by students at Friedrich Schiller University in Jena in collaboration with the Buchenwald and Mittelbau-Dora Memorials Foundation.
It was presented in cooperation with the Wiesbaden City Archives, the Hessian State Agency for Civic Education, and the LSBT*IQ Coordination Office.
The exhibition opening took place on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 7 p.m.
