October 11, 2026, 2:00 p.m.: Curator-led tour of "Grace Schwindt - Autumn Leaves (Witnesses)"
On Sunday, October 11, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., the Kunsthaus is offering a free curator-led tour with Jana Dennhard through the exhibition "Grace Schwindt - Autumn Leaves (Witnesses)."
“Autumn Leaves” is a version of a multi-part work adapted for the Kunsthaus, which is now being presented in Germany for the first time: “Witnesses (Bones, Leaves and other creatures)” was created in 2022 for the Biennale in Busan, South Korea. In it, the artist explores the history of a labor camp in Busan where severe human rights violations took place—violations that have still not been adequately addressed to this day.
The stories of a survivor served as inspiration for the sculptures and the wall embroidery, particularly his perception of the trees on the camp grounds. For him, the leaves of the trees symbolized freedom and hope.
Grace Schwindt dyed the ceramic glazes of the sculptures using soil and leaves from the trees at the site. The sculptures allow viewers to experience, in a moving way, both the vulnerability and the resilience of the human body and spirit.
Curator Jana Dennhard will lead a tour of the exhibition.
