Pumpkin soup festival
Every October for the past 21 years, the Pumpkin Soup Festival has been held at the Kunsthaus on the occasion of the park sculpture by Frankfurt artist Vollrad Kutscher, which is located on the Dern site.
The sculpture consists of stainless steel mesh spheres placed on a mound of earth. Every spring, the mound is planted with pumpkins, which are harvested in the fall. The sculpture was created in 2004 as part of the Wiesbaden Art Summer in the Kurpark. The city of Wiesbaden purchased the artwork and installed it on the Dern'schen Gelände in 2005.
The Pumpkin Soup Festival was initially celebrated at the sculpture. Since 2016, it has taken place at the Kunsthaus Wiesbaden on the Schulberg.
