On Saturday, October 31, 2026, at 6 p.m., Grace Schwindt, in collaboration with the Hessian State Ballet, will present the performance “Love Letter to Those Who Did Not Survive.”
In collaboration with the Hessian State Ballet, Grace Schwindt presents the performance “Love Letter to Those Who Did Not Survive,” which will take place on October 31, 2026, and November 1, 2026, in the auditorium of the Kunsthaus.
“Love Letter to Those Who Did Not Survive” is a choreographic work by Grace Schwindt that explores the traces of war trauma and the people who did not survive wars. Starting with the question of how stories can be conveyed beyond language and made tangible in the present, the project develops a physical form of remembrance.
Grace Schwindt draws on diary entries by women from different eras and countries who did not survive wars. Together with a dancer, the artist translated the texts—using methods from dance psychotherapy—into a distinct movement language and makes them physically tangible for the audience. The resulting movement sequences were documented in a video archive and form the choreographic foundation of the performance.
Sculptural plants and their painted shadows structure the stage space, creating a landscape through which the dancers move. Grace Schwindt views the plants as living witnesses to historical events and bearers of memories.
An event presented as part of the Rhein-Main Dance Festival.
Admission is free.
