Children's Festival at the Training Ground
As part of the "Auf die Plätze los" project, a children’s festival will be held at the Lehrplatz on Friday, August 28, from 2:30 to 5:00 p.m., under the theme "Kids in Action—Fun and Exercise."
This will once again turn the schoolyard into a gathering place for children, families, and the neighborhood—all of whom are warmly invited to spend a lively afternoon together. The festival focuses on play, social interaction, and the active participation of children. With a variety of hands-on activities, the festival invites visitors to experience the schoolyard in a new way: as a public space for play, interaction, and collaborative creation.
The Lehrplatz Festival is organized by the School Social Work Department for Children at the Anton-Gruner-Schule in cooperation with the Kunstwerkern. “Children need spaces where they can move around, interact, and actively explore their surroundings. The schoolyard offers a wonderful opportunity for this. With this festival, we want to show how vibrant a public space can become when children and families use it together,” emphasizes Heike Richter, acting director of the Office of Social Work, who will deliver opening remarks at the start of the event.
The “Auf die Plätze los” project, run by the Office of Social Work, uses a variety of activities and events to promote the creation of public spaces that are child-friendly, livable, and community-oriented. Children are actively involved in the planning process on-site and have the opportunity to share their perspectives and ideas. “Projects like ‘Auf die Plätze los’ show how participation becomes a tangible experience for children and how important it is to give them real opportunities to help shape their environment. When children experience that their own voice matters, they gain a concrete understanding of democracy,” emphasizes Nicole Neuhof, head of the Department of School Social Work for Children.
The event is free of charge.
