The Heßloch Cemetery was established in 1825 north of and outside the town. This area, too, was subsequently redesigned and expanded several times, so that from a local historical or artistic perspective, only the war memorial for those who fell in World War I and the funeral hall are now worth highlighting.

The war memorial from 1925, built of ashlar blocks in the sturdily fortified style of that era, commemorates the fallen on a sandstone plaque bearing the inscription: “TO THE VICTIMS 1914–1918.” On either side, relief sculptures from the heyday of German Expressionism frame the epitaph plaque. The new funeral hall was added in 1950 and, with its extraordinary simplicity and balance—as seen, for example, in the façade divided by five round arches—reflects the conservative pragmatism that prevailed in the architecture of the early Federal Republic.
