The Main-Taunus Golf Club has done it—they’re champions of the 2nd Bundesliga West! 

As a newly promoted team, winning the championship title isn’t necessarily the first thing on your mind, but as each match day unfolded in the thrilling 2026 2nd Bundesliga season, the chance to make it happen grew bigger and more tangible. And when you have such a focused yet relaxed team on the course, even dreams you never thought possible can come true.

And now the sensation continued: For the first time in the club’s history, the Main-Taunus Golf Club will compete in the First German Golf League in 2027. In the promotion match, the men’s team defeated Hannover 7–5 and can now call themselves a first-division team. 

For the men’s team of the Main-Taunus Golf Club, it went as it always has this season: it was a close call. In the promotion match to the First German Golf League (North Group) against the Hannover Golf Club, the penultimate match was what decided the outcome—and, of course, it came down to the 18th hole. By winning a hole on the final hole, Tom Klapproth tied his match against Hannover’s Atharv Sharma, securing the decisive half-point to bring the score to 6.5 and seal promotion. The Wiesbaden team started the season as a newly promoted side in the second division and went on a dominant run. For the first time in the club’s history, the Main-Taunus Golf Club will now compete in the 1st Bundesliga in 2027.
