Phantoms in the GFL2
The Phantoms will once again compete in the German Football League 2 (GFL2) during the 2026 season. And following a successful regular season—with nine wins in ten games—they now face the Rostock Griffins in the playoffs on Saturday, August 29.
Playoff semi-final
For the Phantoms, the season will extend—or rather, continue—beyond the regular season with the playoff semifinal on Saturday, August 29, at their home “Camp.” The Rostock Griffins will be visiting Wiesbaden that day starting at 4:30 p.m. With a win, the Wiesbaden footballers hope to secure a spot in the GFL2 Bowl—scheduled for September 12 in Krefeld. Ultimately, this could mean their long-awaited return to the GFL1.
Season Finale: 34–25 vs. Montabaur Fighting Farmers
The Wiesbaden Phantoms finished the GFL2 season with an impressive 9-1 record. To cap off the regular season, the team led by Head Coach Patrick Griesheimer and Defensive Coordinator Chris Feck defeated the Montabaur Fighting Farmers for the second time. Following their 17–16 win in Montabaur, the final score in Wiesbaden after four quarters was 34–25. At halftime, the hosts had trailed 7–13, but managed to turn the game around in the third and fourth quarters.
31:41 in the away game against the Albershausen Crusaders
In Albershausen, the Wiesbaden Phantoms, led by Head Coach Patrick Griesheimer, faced the Crusaders in the rematch; the Crusaders had legitimate hopes of securing the second playoff spot. The final score was 31–41 in favor of the Wiesbaden Phantoms.
24-17 victory over the Augsburg Centurions
The Wiesbaden Phantoms are the GFL 2 South champions: On the eighth matchday, they traveled to face the Augsburg Centurions, who were in second place in the standings. A win against their closest rival would ensure that the Wiesbaden football players could no longer be displaced from first place in the standings with two games remaining. In the end, the Wiesbaden Phantoms won 24–17, securing their eighth victory in their eighth game of the season and ensuring they can no longer be displaced from first place in the GFL 2 standings.
