German Archery Championships in Wiesbaden
From Friday through Sunday, September 11–13, numerous participants will once again compete in the German Archery Championships in Wiesbaden at the Bowling Green in front of the Kurhaus.
It’s that time of year again: Wiesbaden is in the grip of archery fever. From September 11 to 13, the German Archery Championships will be held in the capital of Hesse. Over 100 posters throughout the city are promoting this sporting highlight, and admission is free.
More than 650 archers of various age groups, competing with barebows, compound bows, and recurve bows, will take up their equipment that weekend to determine the best among them. The very young athletes are absent this time because, for the first time this year, the A and B youth divisions held their own German Championship in Suhl with over 200 young archers.

As in previous years, the competitions will begin on Friday at the Kleinfeldchen sports field, where qualifying rounds will be held and German champions will be crowned through Sunday afternoon. The main event will then take place simultaneously on Saturday and Sunday at the Bowling Green in the heart of Wiesbaden, where arrows will fly from 9:50 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day to determine the German champions and medalists in compound bow (women and men) as well as in recurve bow (youth w+m, juniors w+m, women, and men) will be determined. And as always, the matches will be streamed live and free of charge on Sporteurope.TV.

When the German Archery Championships were held for the first time in Wiesbaden in 2018—including at the Bowling Green there—hardly anyone would have thought that by 2026, the event would already be taking place for the seventh time at this premier venue in the capital of Hesse.
There are, of course, various sayings, such as “Every pot finds its lid.” While no one in Wiesbaden would likely call the Bowling Green a “pot,” it is a perfect symbiosis between the green space in front of the picturesque Kurhaus and the “lid”—archery—which finds a perfect venue there.
It’s practically like “one heart and one soul”—when the compound and recurve archers send their arrows flying, they know that, past the bubbling fountains, there’s hardly a more beautiful moment for them than when the arrow hits the gold and the TV shows wonderful images.
“The chemistry is right”—not only between the venue and the sport, but also between the city and the German Archery Federation. In 2026, the spectacle featuring Germany’s best archers will take place for the seventh time; in addition, the 2019 European Cup Final for para-archers was held here, where the athletes impressively demonstrated that archery is a sport for everyone.
The city and the DSB, as well as Bowling Green and the archery community, are now heading into their seventh joint edition “hand in hand.” And the archers at Kleinfeldchen (Friday through Sunday) and the Bowling Green (Saturday and Sunday) know they can look forward to some great days once again. It’s a perfect fit.
