Easter vacation at Freudenberg Castle

In October, the multimedia exhibition "achtzehn" by Berlin artist John Kolya Reichart will come to Schloss Freudenberg in Wiesbaden.

In 2023, the year after the much-cited turning point, he visited eighteen-year-olds in all 16 federal states and spent a day with them. Together, they each visited two places: a self-chosen place in the past and a self-chosen place in the future.

Photographic portraits were taken there and they had long conversations about personal experiences, future prospects, fears and dreams. The insights are diverse and profound and take us across Germany - from the mountains to the sea, to big cities and villages, to playgrounds and highway blockades and military barracks. The resulting audiovisual work forms the heart of the exhibition and paints a very personal picture of the generation that is just coming of age.

The patron is Minister of State Heike Hofmann, the Hessian Minister of Social Affairs. The exhibition will open on October 2 at 6 p.m. with a festive vernissage in the castle.
