The "frauen museum wiesbaden" shows exhibitions on the history and culture of women in society.
The award-winning, interdisciplinary frauen museum wiesbaden has been privately sponsored by the non-profit association Frauenwerkstatt Wiesbaden e.V. since its foundation in 1984 and is financially supported by the Cultural Office of the City of Wiesbaden.
The museum develops and presents changing exhibitions on various themes on an area of 600 square meters. Contemporary art exhibitions provide insights into the creative world of female artists, female figures from all over the world and all eras show a comprehensive understanding of history and culture and inspiring female personalities are presented in themed exhibitions. The varied program of events ranges from conferences, seminars, panel discussions, readings, lectures and city tours to film projects and dance performances.
In 1997, the work of the frauen museum wiesbaden was awarded the Cultural Prize of the City of Wiesbaden.
