Martín La Roche: Memory Palace
The Nassauischer Kunstverein Wiesbaden is presenting "Memory Palace", Martín La Roche's first institutional solo exhibition in Germany, until June 29.
On two floors, the exhibition provides a wide-ranging insight into La Roche's artistic work, which includes installations, performances, works on paper and objects. His work is based on various collections of objects, which are activated through performances, storytelling and participatory actions and are constantly placed in new contexts. The exhibition Memory Palace deals with individual and collective memory in connection with objects and language and actively involves the audience in telling stories and reflecting on creative processes.
Gamma Colors project presentation on June 11
The Nassauischer Kunstverein Wiesbaden cordially invites you to the presentation of the workshop results "Gamma Colors" on Wednesday, June 11, at 6 pm. The series of works makes it possible to experience how colors can be perceived anew from personal memories and stories - viewed through the eyes of other people.
What do colors have to do with memories? And what would a color be called that smells like childhood, vacations or a favorite song?
Together with Facettenwerk Wiesbaden (a facility for people with disabilities) and Chamäleon Lernbegleitung (a facility for children with special needs), artist Martín La Roche held creative workshops. Children, adults and their tutors renamed colors from a standard color fan - according to their own memories and feelings. These terms were artistically translated using screen printing and are now being shown publicly for the first time at the Nassauischer Kunstverein.
The works are based on a color fan from the Dutch DIY store Gamma, which normally works with sober, standardized color designations. In this project, however, the colors were filled with life - through individual memories, feelings and completely new perspectives.
The project shows how art connects and how colors can become stories.
