The exhibition is accompanied by numerous guided tours, lectures and workshops that provide deeper insights into the history of the Limes and its cultural significance as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. These events offer the opportunity to discover the history of the Limes and the associated history of research in an interactive way.

The Roman Limes between the Rhine and Danube has now been a UNESCO World Heritage Site for 20 years. But what does that actually mean? And what does Wiesbaden have to do with it? Together we will not only try to answer these questions, but also take a look at the history and development of this Roman border. What was life like for soldiers at the Limes and how did they get on with the neighboring Germanic tribes? All curious minds are welcome!

Do you know what a Limes is and who the Romans were? Have you ever touched Roman armor and do you know how heavy a chain mail shirt is? Together we will explore why the Romans built a huge border near here and who the people were who had to guard it. We will look at the original objects that the Romans left us, but we can also touch and try out many replicas!

Cost: 4 euros per designed piece | without registration
Duration: approx. 30 to 40 minutes, depending on individual speed

Would you like to create a Roman mosaic or a Roman round mill game yourself? Then come to our "Open Workshops" during the Easter and summer vacations. You can get creative yourself after the family tours. It doesn't matter whether you took part in the guided tour, are a Roman expert or simply fancy trying out something new: Anyone can join in at any time. (Recommended from the age of six)
