"Tell me about Europe!"

What does Europe mean? For some, it is a political project; for others, a home in diversity. Either way, Europe is not a given, not an immutable asset. Europe requires constant work. Right now, there is a lot to do.

The multimedia traveling exhibition "Tell me about Europe!" presents the passionate work of over fifty young Europeans from around forty countries. In more than thirty European languages, they interviewed representatives of their grandparents' or even great-grandparents' generation. As witnesses to Europe, they recount their eventful lives and their activities in politics, culture, and science, which are interwoven with Europe. The result is a multifaceted panorama of the history and future of the European idea.

The central element of the exhibition is a series of impressive portrait photographs by Berlin photographer Maximilian Gödecke. With the support of the Goethe-Institut, he traveled throughout Europe to capture the European witnesses, their individual characters, and their environments. The photographs enter into a dialogue with the archive's leitmotifs and key stories, offering diverse insights into the European memory space.

An audio station complements the exhibition by making the diversity of languages and memories audible and invites visitors to engage personally with the European project.

The traveling exhibition will also be on display during the Europe Weeks in the European city of Wiesbaden. The project to show the exhibition in the City Museum was developed in cooperation with the Youth Work and Wiesbaden International departments of the Office for Social Work. Numerous other institutions and actors from the city's society were involved in the conception and implementation of the diverse accompanying program.

Admission to the special exhibition at the City Museum is free.
