Christian Dell – From the Silver Jug to Goldgasse
June 17–November 15, 2026

On June 16, 2026, the sam will open an exhibition featuring a master craftsman from the State Bauhaus in Weimar and a co-founder of the “Das Neue Frankfurt” movement, who spent the second half of his life in Wiesbaden.

With the special exhibition “Christian Dell – From the Silver Jug to Goldgasse,” the sam – Stadtmuseum am Markt is dedicating a comprehensive exhibition to one of the most influential designers of the 20th century. From June 17 to November 15, 2026, as part of World Design Capital Frankfurt RheinMain 2026, the city museum will showcase the diversity of Dell’s work—from early silver pieces and innovative plastic designs to his “Kaiser Idell” series of lamps, which remain famous to this day.

WerkRaum Wiesbaden — Open to Your Ideas
A new space for exchange, urban development, and creative inspiration in the heart of the city

From May 2 to October 31, 2026, a new space for exchange and co-creation will be created in the former SportScheck department store in downtown Wiesbaden: The Stadtmuseum Wiesbaden Foundation, architect Sandra Düsterhus (POINT. Architektur), and Prof. Jörg Waldschütz with students from the Communication Design program at RheinMain University of Applied Sciences are developing “WerkRaum Wiesbaden” here as part of World Design Capital Frankfurt RheinMain 2026 (WDC 2026). This temporary space serves as an open forum for Wiesbaden’s WDC projects and for all initiatives from the city and region that drive social transformation.
