District music

The "District Music" programme is a decentralized cultural offering that makes it easier for organizers to promote musicians and bands and discover new, atypical event locations.

District Music 2026 funding program

This program is designed to expand the range of local cultural offerings not already covered by the Neighborhood Culture Days and to support music bands that perform at smaller, individual events in Wiesbaden’s neighborhoods and districts.

The call for proposals is aimed at (private) event organizers who wish to host small live music concerts, for example, in the courtyard or garden of their home, on the lawn of their apartment building, in a public square, or indoors. Readings accompanied by live music are also possible. The event must be open to the public, and the cultural experience must be the primary focus. Performances as background music or at street festivals and other existing event formats (wine stands, fairs, concert series, neighborhood culture days, festivals, etc.) are not eligible for funding. Applications from music pubs and clubs or restaurants and bars that typically offer live music programs are also not eligible. The event must take place between May 1 and October 31, 2026.

An admission fee may be charged, but this is not a requirement. The organization, promotion of the event, and other tasks (artist catering, GEMA, infrastructure, technical support, registration with the Public Order Office for serving alcohol, etc.) must be organized and financed by the applicant.

The Cultural Affairs Office will cover the musicians’ fees up to 250 euros per person per concert, provided the performance lasts at least 60 minutes. The maximum grant amount for artist fees is 1,000 euros. The musicians must be professionals who earn their living primarily by making and performing music. In addition to the fees, a flat-rate technical allowance of up to 250 euros per concert may be granted if necessary. For reimbursement, invoices and receipts for the payment of fees or technical costs must be submitted to the Cultural Office.

Interested parties may apply for funding immediately through August 31, 2026, via stadtteilkulturwiesbadende. The application must include a brief description of the project—specifically the date, time, location, band, program, and general conditions.

The total amount of available funding is limited. Applications will be processed and decided upon as they are received. A maximum of one grant is available per applicant; likewise, an artist or ensemble may only receive funding from the Stadtteilmusik grant program for one performance (this should be confirmed with the artist or ensemble before submitting the application).
