Federal Cross of Merit for Felicitas Reusch
On July 22, 2025, State Parliament President Astrid Wallmann presented Wiesbaden resident Felicitas Reusch with the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon for her voluntary work in the arts and culture.
At a ceremony in the Music Hall of the Hessian State Parliament, Astrid Wallmann paid tribute to her work: Felicitas Reusch had been committed to a lively artistic and cultural life in the Hessian state capital for many decades with great personal dedication and had achieved a great deal and created lasting values during this time. It is very important to her to promote art and artists and to preserve Wiesbaden's rich artistic heritage; it is equally important to her to increase knowledge about it and to make this treasure known and accessible to the public.
The 77-year-old art historian is the founder and first chairwoman of the non-profit association Kunstarche, which preserves the estates of Wiesbaden artists, as well as individual works of art, sketches, diaries, letters, photos and films, accompanied by academic classifications, publications and exhibitions. The Kunstarche is an archive of Wiesbaden's artistic community and thus an important place of the city's cultural memory, where art in transition can be researched and experienced by all interested parties, Wallmann continued. Founded in 2011, the association was awarded the Cultural Prize of the State Capital of Wiesbaden in 2022.
Felicitas Reusch is also a founding member of the "Freunde des Museums Wiesbaden e.V." association, a board member of the Otto Ritschl e.V. museum association and administrator of the estate of Mainz-born painter, stage designer and writer Paul Strecker. She is also a founding member of the Wiesbaden club of the women's network "Soroptimist International". Felicitas Reusch was awarded the Citizens' Medal of the State Capital of Wiesbaden in 2013.
