Brief description: What is it about and what are the objectives?

A new meeting place is being created for people from over 70 cultures who live in Schelmengraben.

In the immediate vicinity of the Schelmengraben district center, a housing estate designed by Ernst May, there is an intercultural garden that brings together users from different backgrounds. A new meeting place is to be created in place of the dilapidated community center – both for users of the allotment gardens and for residents of the neighborhood. The Babbelturm is being planned as part of a series of workshops. Users, students, and trainees with a background in construction come together to develop their creative ideas.

The participatory project is supported by experts from the construction sector and social workers from the district center. The common goal is an open, constructive, and interdisciplinary process in which a new sustainable building is designed and realized through constant changes of perspective. Even after completion, the Babbelturm is intended to be a place of gathering and communication for a wide variety of stakeholders.

We welcome active support and sponsors!
