Brief description: What is it about and what are the objectives?
Design is more than just decoration
Under the motto “Let’s Design Democracy,” the Barcamp combines the open Barcamp culture with the concept of the World Design Capital: design as a tool to strengthen social development, participation, and democratic coexistence.
What is a Barcamp?
A Barcamp is an open, participatory conference. There is no pre-determined agenda and no traditional lectures. Instead, participants bring their own topics, questions, and ideas. At the start of the day, everyone works together to create the session schedule: discussions, workshops, presentations, or roundtable discussions—anything is possible.
It is precisely this format that makes Barcamp particularly well-suited to the topic of democracy: participation, openness, and dialogue are not just buzzwords here, but lived practice.
Democracy needs exchange
At Barcamp RheinMain, "Let’s Design Democracy" doesn’t mean presenting ready-made solutions. It’s about bringing different perspectives to light, sharing diverse experiences, and developing new ways of thinking together.
We welcome people who are curious and want to get involved. No prior knowledge is required—just an openness to other opinions and a desire to engage in dialogue.
