Brief description:

There are already many circular economy services in Wiesbaden, from retail to repair and second-hand shopping to recycling. We make them easier for citizens to find through intelligent design - and thus strengthen local providers and material flows.

This project helps to ensure that Wiesbaden residents' things are used for longer and retain their value - instead of ending up in the trash: Anyone who buys something in Wiesbaden is provided with local addresses for care, repair and reselling. Items in good condition go into the exchange box or the public closet, not into the garbage can. The recycling center provides information on alternatives to throwing things away, such as second-hand stores and repair cafés. This creates an ecosystem from existing players and services that saves money, waste and CO₂. And that strengthens stores and crafts in the city - good for people, good for Wiesbaden.

Specifically, we will pilot and test around 5 measures along the chain from purchase to use to disposal in 2026. Successful measures can remain permanent or be scaled up after 2026.

Dates/period:

  • January to March 2026: Planning, design and production of the measures
  • April - September 2026: Implementation and testing of the pilots
  • October - December 2026: Evaluation and creation of manual for other cities

Venue(s)

  • Various measures at touchpoints in Wiesbaden (from retail to recycling centers)
  • Individual measures temporarily also at Sportscheck (workshops, exchange box, etc.)
