Playscape Wiesbaden sees urban furniture as democratic infrastructure. In an inner-city gap between buildings, a new kind of intergenerational meeting place is being created that goes beyond consumerism—a hybrid structure combining play, sports, park, and art object. The aim is to reclaim public space as a communal living space and to sustainably revitalize a previously unattractive side street.

The Playscape acts as an urban anchor point between Schwalbacher Strasse and the pedestrian zone. Its striking, contemporary design creates an open space that appeals equally to young people, families, library visitors, and passers-by. The space invites people to linger, move around, explore, and meet others—it is low-threshold, inclusive, and barrier-free. This redefines the city center as a social space of opportunity.

A modular structure is planned, allowing for flexible material selection, short construction times, and ease of dismantling. The use of durable, recyclable components and the integration of natural elements such as trees, grasses, or water features support climate-resilient integration into the urban fabric. The project is an initiative of 3deluxe architecture with the aim of providing concrete impetus for lively, diverse downtown development in Wiesbaden.
