Brief description: What is it about?
How does our perspective on a festival change when the focus shifts from celebrating to observing? When moments coalesce and individual scenes become visual stories?
Teens between the ages of 14 and 18 are rediscovering the Hochheim Wine Festival through photography. In a street photography workshop led by Frankfurt-based photographer Stephan Lauterbach, they use smartphones to capture authentic snapshots right in the midst of the festivities.
The meeting point is the exhibition HOCHHEIM:WEINFESTSELIG, which is dedicated to the history of the Hochheim Wine Festival. At the start, Stephan Lauterbach provides an approximately one-hour introduction to the basics of street photography: perspective, posture, proximity and distance, light, sequence, and context—deliberately using the smartphone as a tool.
Afterward, participants will explore the wine festival for about two to two and a half hours. They will move independently through the city, observe, take photos, and develop their own visual language in public spaces.
At the end, the resulting work is reviewed and discussed together. The workshop lasts a total of about four hours.
