With the redesign of the facade—which will feature windows, patio doors, and small balconies modeled after the historic original—the Walhalla will once again be visible. The light from the ballroom, which will then spill out onto the surrounding streets and squares, will transform the atmosphere of downtown Wiesbaden and
significantly enhance the quality of the neighborhood.

• Freudenberg Castle is embracing this new sensory experience and invites visitors starting at 3 p.m. to explore its “Fair of the 28 Senses” around the Walhalla.
• At 4, 5, and 6 p.m., there will be informational sessions at the construction site regarding the current renovation work.
• At 7:00 p.m., Mayor Mende will open the exhibition “Urban Design & Transformation – The Walhalla Cultural Site” at the Mauritius Media Library and participate in a panel discussion on the same topic.

The musical program will feature works by Jewish composer Heinz Lewin, who was active at the Walhalla before the Shoah. The duo Anna Tyshayeva (piano) and Michel Gershwin (violin) will perform.

Afterward, all guests are cordially invited to stroll through the exhibition and engage in conversation while enjoying salon music.

September 15, 2026:

• 4:00, 5:00, and 6:00 p.m.: Information sessions at the construction site on current and planned renovation work (duration: approximately 30 minutes)

    On” with Martin Horsten and Thorsten Brokmann from the Department of Historic Preservation and Conservation

  • 5:00 p.m.: “Where We Stand—The Construction History of the Walhalla
    ,” presented by Jan Schüler, B.A. in Architecture, a planner specializing in historic preservation, and Carsten von Schuckmann, Dipl.-Ing., Architect
    
  • 6:00 p.m.: Thinking
    About Tomorrow Through Yesterday—Prof. Felix Waechter, Waechter + Waechter Architectural Office, and Dr. Ing. Henriette von Preuschen, State Office for Historic Preservation
• 7:00 p.m.: Opening of the “Urban Design & Transformation” exhibition and panel discussion with Mayor Gert-Uwe Mende at the Mauritius Media Library
