Brief description:
With the demolition of the 1928 side wing, which runs alongside the Walhalla’s ballroom, work begins on studying the historic window façade of the Walhalla, dating from 1897. The insights gained will inform the redesign of this façade, which will once again feature windows, patio doors, and small balconies. The Walhalla’s new visibility, along with the light from the ballroom spilling into the surrounding streets and squares, will transform the atmosphere of downtown Wiesbaden.
This new sensory experience is taken up by Freudenberg Castle, which invites visitors in the afternoon to explore its mobile experience area at the construction site on Hochstättenstrasse.
From 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., informational sessions on the current renovation work will take place hourly at the construction site.
In the evening, Mayor Mende will open the exhibition “Urban Design & Transformation – The Walhalla Cultural Site” at the Mauritius Media Library and participate in a panel discussion on the same topic.
The musical backdrop will feature works by the Jewish composer Heinz Lewin, who worked at the Walhalla before the Shoah.
Afterward, all guests are cordially invited to stroll through the exhibition and engage in conversation while enjoying salon music.
