The course is now being set in cultural policy
Cultural advisory board addresses potential majority factions in the town hall.
Following the local elections on March 15, a new balance of power has emerged. The City Council will be reconstituted on April 29, but the potential majority parties—the CDU, SPD, Die LINKE, Bündnis 90/Die Grünen, FDP, and Volt—are already negotiating key issues that will shape the political agenda of a new majority.
“We are addressing the city council members during this crucial phase because we want to emphasize the importance of culture in city policy,” explains Dr. Helmut Müller, Chair of the Cultural Advisory Board, in a letter to the negotiating factions. “The course for cultural policy is being set now. This concerns the current cultural budget, which must be reassessed in light of the significantly improved revenue situation. But it also affects the major cultural projects that have been under discussion for some time—such as the Walhalla, the Cultural Campus, the relocation of the City Museum, and the construction of a dance center. We are calling for a status conference to bring order to these projects and formulate clear perspectives for the stakeholders.”
