Conceptual support for the performing arts

For 2026, the Wiesbaden Department of Culture once again invited tenders for concept funding in the performing arts. Strengthening innovation within the independent performing arts community is one of the main objectives of this funding program.

The Performing Arts Concept Grant is designed to last up to two years and provides support—independent of specific productions—for projects that require longer-term, ongoing funding. In addition to financial support, the Wiesbaden Cultural Office also assists all funded artists with advice and expertise.

Applications must be submitted via the funding portal of the State Capital of Wiesbaden; the link to the application form and the call for proposals can be found below. The application process for 2026 has closed; the selection decision is expected to be announced at the end of March.

Artists working in the fields of theater, dance, and performance were invited to apply for the grant program by March 3, 2026, using the link below. Grants will be awarded based on the recommendations of the Performing Arts Expert Jury, which is appointed by the Cultural Affairs Office.

Decisions are expected to be announced at the end of March 2026.

Dance Nexus e.V. (2024)

In 2024, the dance network Dance Nexus—now a registered association—was founded with funding from the Performing Arts Concept Grant. Among other things, the network connects freelance dancers in the Rhine-Main region, offers professional workshops, organizes its own festival, and awards residencies. Unscene e.V. (2025)

Unscene e.V. was founded with funding from the “Performing Arts 2025” initiative. It is a cross-genre collective of artists (music, performing arts, visual arts) that has come together to promote the collective visibility of the respective independent scenes, engage in joint lobbying, and coordinate joint press and public relations efforts. An open meeting takes place every third Thursday of the month at Café Besser Samstag, Schiersteiner Str. 1, 65187 Wiesbaden. There is no website yet, but the collective can be found on Instagram under "unscene_e.V."
