live & local - promoting performances by local musicians

The Cultural Office of the state capital Wiesbaden is launching a new funding program for the local music scene called "live & local" in 2026. Applications have been open since January 15, 2026.

Band on stage

The idea: Wiesbaden music bands, ensembles and soloists from the professional and up-and-coming music scene are guaranteed a fee financed by the Department of Culture for a single performance, which they can then use to independently search for a venue within the Wiesbaden cultural venue scene.

This creates a potential "win-win situation" that can benefit both local musicians and local event organizers: the musicians bring their fee with them, so to speak, and receive a performance opportunity in Wiesbaden. The event organizers, on the other hand, are given the opportunity to hire local, possibly even unknown bands without having to take the full financial risk.

With "live & local", a performance promotion is thus offered for musicians within Wiesbaden that has not existed in this form until now.

The application must include a brief description of the band and the musical program planned for the performance, preferably with a reference to the intended venue. Two to three audio samples must also be provided for free, direct download. The total amount of funding available is limited. A maximum of one grant is available per musician/band.
