Carl P. Miller, president of Rotary International
On September 6, 1963, Carl P. Miller, President of Rotary International, signed the Golden Book of the City of Wiesbaden.
In 1963, a total of 540,000 Rotarians in 11,500 clubs on six continents in 129 countries worked to develop high ethical professional standards and promote international understanding, goodwill and peace.
Today, the association has around 1.2 million members worldwide, organized in over 34,000 clubs.
In his speech at the reception for Rotary President Carl P. Miller on September 6, 1963, Mayor Buch praised the modesty and proud attitude of the Rotarians.
The American thanked Buch for his kind words and spoke favorably of his boat trip and a hike through the Rheingau the day before.
Both had already spoken about the beauty of the region the previous evening, when the Wiesbaden Rotarians had invited prominent public figures to a festive evening in the Kurhaus in honor of their president.
After the short speeches, the ceremonial entry in the Golden Book took place in the ballroom of the town hall.
