Ambassador of the Federation of Nigeria, Chief M. E. Ejimofor
On September 11, 1963, the Ambassador of the Federation of Nigeria, Chief M. E. Ejimofor, signed the Golden Book of the City of Wiesbaden.
Nigeria has been colonized by Great Britain since 1861. It was not until 1960 that the state gained independence with a federal constitution.
In the first years of the republic, Prime Minister Abubajar Tafawa Balewa ruled until instability and various military dictatorships occurred between 1967 and 1998. He sent Chief M. E. Ejimofor as Nigeria's first ambassador to the Federal Republic.
During a visit to Wiesbaden on September 11, 1963, His Excellency was received by Lord Mayor Buch in the ballroom of the town hall.
Buch congratulated the diplomat on his country's independence and wished the young democracy every success. Ejimofor thanked him for his kind words and then signed the city's Golden Book.
