On November 18, 2006, Professor Dr. Dr. h.c. Hans-Joachim Jentsch, Jörg Jordan, and Professor Dr. Dr.-Ing. h.c. Gottfried Kiesow signed the Golden Book of the City of Wiesbaden.
On November 18, 2006, Mayor Hildebrand Diehl honored three citizens of Wiesbaden who had rendered outstanding service to their city and the state through their long-standing commitment: Professor Dr. Dr. h.c. Hans-Joachim Jentsch, as a member of the state parliament and the Bundestag, as a judge on the Federal Constitutional Court, and, last but not least, as mayor of Wiesbaden; Prof. Dr. Dr.-Ing. Gottfried Kiesow, as president of the Hessian State Office for the Preservation of Historical Monuments and founder of the German Foundation for Monument Protection; and Jörg Jordan, as a city council member, Head of the Department of Urban Development and Construction, State Secretary in the Hessian Ministry of Regional Development, Environment, Agriculture, and Forestry, and Hessian Minister for Regional Development, Housing, Agriculture, Forestry, and Nature Conservation.
All three had achieved outstanding accomplishments in their respective fields, and the city owed each of them a great deal. In recognition of their contributions, they were awarded honorary citizenship.
The honorees were very modest and expressed their gratitude for the respect shown to them. They then signed the city’s Golden Book.
Professor Dr. Dr.-Ing. Gottfried Kiesow died on November 7, 2011, in Wiesbaden.
