Lord Mayor of Baghdad
On May 11, 1959, the Lord Mayor of Baghdad signed the Golden Book of the City of Wiesbaden.
The Lord Mayor of Baghdad, Abdul Majid Hassan, spent four weeks in Germany on a study trip.
Together with two female doctors, he was given the task of getting to know the German healthcare system in order to improve living conditions in his home country. In addition to Bonn, Munich, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Berlin, Wiesbaden was one of the places he visited.
He spent seven days in the spa town and used his only day off to hike through the city's parks and the heights of the Taunus, as he reported at a reception in the town hall.
Mayor Mix thanked him for his kind words and then told his guest about Wiesbaden's two-thousand-year history. Abdul Majid Hassan then signed the city's Golden Book, using Latin letters to make it easier for his hosts to read.
