25 years of town twinning Wiesbaden - Fondettes

On June 10, 2000, a delegation from the city of Fondettes signed the Golden Book of the city of Wiesbaden.

The small French town of Fondettes is located in the department of Indre-et-Loire in the Centre region. The town of around 10,000 inhabitants is part of the Tours Plus association of municipalities and has been a twin town of Naurod since 1975. Since its incorporation into Wiesbaden, the partnership has formally applied to the Hessian state capital.

The history of Fondette dates back to Roman times, when the first settlements were built on the banks of the Loire on the edge of the Touraine moor.

Numerous sights such as an aqueduct and the ruins of Gallo-Roman villas still bear witness to this long history. Today, an annual ancient market reminds us of the past.

On June 10, 2000, a delegation from Fondettes made the 787-kilometre journey to Wiesbaden to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the partnership in the town hall of the Hessian state capital. After mutual declarations of friendship, the French guests signed the city's Golden Book.
