Lions Club World President, W.R. Bryan
On May 4, 1970, the World President of the Lions Club, W.R. Bryan, signed the Golden Book of the City of Wiesbaden.
On his trip to Europe, the newly elected World President of Lions International, W. R. Bryan, was also received in Wiesbaden after stops in Paris, Mulhouse, Annecy, Nice, Venice and Vienna.
Lord Mayor Schmitt praised the Lions' commitment to serving others without focusing on personal gain. According to this motto, around 1.3 million members were active in over 46,000 clubs in 208 countries in 2012.
Bryan expressed his thanks for the warm welcome and announced that he would continue his organization's commitment to humanitarian aid to create a peaceful and free coexistence in the spirit of his predecessors. He then joined other national and international representatives of the Lions in signing the city's Golden Book.
In the evening, Bryan attended a reception hosted by the clubs from Mainz, Bad Ems, Diez, Rüsselsheim, the Rheingau and Wiesbaden at the "Schwarzer Bock" hotel, before departing the next morning for a meeting with Federal President Heinemann in Bonn.
