Presentation of the Ludwig Beck Prize for Civil Courage and the Prize for Civic Courage
Lord Mayor Gert-Uwe Mende and Head of City Council Dr. Gerhard Obermayr awarded the Ludwig Beck Prize for Civil Courage of the State Capital of Wiesbaden and the Prize for Civic Courage on January 23, 2026.
The Ludwig Beck Prize for Civil Courage of the state capital of Wiesbaden for the year 2025 will be awarded to Russian historian and journalist Dr. Irina Scherbakowa and Russian human rights activist Julia Nawalnaja. The Prize for Civic Courage goes to Johann Zernickel and Andrej Belosludov. Mayor Gert-Uwe Mende and City Council Chairman Dr. Gerhard Obermayr presented the Ludwig Beck Prize for Civil Courage and the Prize for Civic Courage at City Hall on January 23, 2026.
