PlayFountain on the Luisenplatz

The PlayFountain mobile water playground on Luisenplatz provides a lively start to the summer vacations. Until August 17, the popular water attraction will once again provide refreshment, exercise and lots of summer fun in the heart of the city center.

Water fountain

Last year, the PlayFountain was enthusiastically received by over 15,000 visitors. Numerous families, daycare centers and vacation groups took advantage of the opportunity to actively cool off in the summer temperatures. Due to the great success and high demand, the event has now been relaunched - with a few improvements.

New this year are additional shaded areas with large parasols, comfortable deckchairs, a toilet truck and the sale of drinks at cost price.

Another highlight is a free summer concert with Sabine Gramenz and Malte Kühn, which will take place as part of the "Wiesbaden reads" series on Thursday, July 31 at 7.30 pm at the water features - with atmospheric lighting and water staging in the background.

The mobile water playground is open Monday to Friday from 10 am to 8 pm and at weekends from 12 pm to 6 pm. The six-week vacation fun is free of charge and invites young and old to join in.

Water fun in drinking water quality

Behind the visible pleasure lies sophisticated technology. The PlayFountain is around 100 square meters in size and has 1,024 electronically controlled jets that create dynamic water fountains up to four meters high. A modern water treatment system ensures that the water is circulated, continuously purified and kept at drinking water quality. At just ten kilowatts per hour, electricity consumption remains very low.

The project is being funded as part of the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Building's "Sustainable inner cities and centers" (ZIZ) programme. The aim is to provide new impetus for vibrant city centers with innovative, temporary measures.
