Redesigned Sedanplatz opened
With the opening of the redesigned Sedanplatz, a new attractive place for recreation, meeting and urban nature has been created in the Westend. The Kiezgarten will also open on July 18.
A striking element is the exposed Kesselbach stream in the seating fountain, which was designed as a water feature and gives the square a new identity. Spacious seating along the paths and by the water invites people to linger.
New infrastructure for gastronomic use - including water, electricity and sewage connections - enhances the quality of stay and promotes a lively town square.
Opening Kiezgarten
On Friday, July 18, the Kiezgarten starts a new season - from 5 p.m. it's time to relax, toast and enjoy in the middle of Sedanplatz!
What you can expect:
- Neighborhood concerts - every Wednesday with local musicians
- Table tennis
- Pub quiz
- New: Neighborhood flea market
Comprehensive participation process
The redesign was preceded by a comprehensive participation process in which citizens and the local advisory council contributed their ideas. The Parks and Environment Department implemented the project together with the landscape architecture firm BierbaumAichele Landschaftsarchitekten (Mainz) and the planning office Harald Neu Architekt & Städtebauarchitekt BDA (Darmstadt). Particular attention was paid to the combination of quality of stay, ecological effect and urban planning context.
