Shrovetide in Wiesbaden

The "fifth season" has been celebrated in the Hessian state capital since 1859. The 2026 campaign was celebrated from February 12 to 18 with the storming of the town hall and the big carnival parade.

Campaign 2026 and foolish anniversary

A "foolish anniversary" awaited in 2026: Under the motto "Seven times eleven years of carnival parade," not only the parade on Carnival Sunday, but the entire 2026 campaign of the Dacho was celebrated.

Children's parade and storming of the town hall on February 14

On February 14, 2026—Carnival Saturday—the little revelers in particular were looking forward to the children's parade through the streets of Wiesbaden, followed by a storming of the town hall. The parade started punctually at 3:33 p.m. at Luisenplatz. At around 5:11 p.m., the awards ceremony for the best children's parade numbers took place on the stage at Schlossplatz. The children's festival with stage program began at 11:11 a.m. at the market fountain on Schlossplatz. In addition, Mayor Gert-Uwe Mende attempted to defend the town hall key. 

Carnival parade on February 15

The Wiesbaden Carnival reached its climax on Carnival Sunday, February 15, when the festive parade wound its way through the city center again from 12:11 p.m., passing hundreds of thousands of revelers. The start and finish were located on Friedrich-Ebert-Allee.

Proclamation of the carnival on November 11, 2025

Punctually at 11.11 a.m. on 11 November 2025, the carnival flag was hoisted at the town hall to the sounds of the Narrhalla march of the market church bells in the presence of Lord Mayor Gert-Uwe Mende, City Council Chairman Dr. Gerhard Obermayr and Dacho Chairman Simon Rottloff.
