Theatrium - Celebrate on the Rue

One of the oldest and most popular festivals in Wiesbaden, the Theatrium, attracts visitors to the "Rue" from Friday to Sunday, June 12 to 14, with music, shows and lots of delicacies.

There is plenty of partying around the Kurhaus and on the bowling green.

The 47th Theatrium, one of Germany’s oldest street festivals, is expected to draw over 100,000 people to downtown Wiesbaden from Friday through Sunday, June 12–14. Wilhelmstraße will be transformed into a kilometer-long festival corridor featuring music, dance, food, and culture.

A special highlight of the program is once again the performances by numerous dance schools. The performances range from classical ballet to modern street dance and have been very well received by the audience.

With a total of 240 booths, including a large arts and crafts market in front of the concert shell in the Kurpark and a diverse range of food and drink options along the entire length of Wilhelmstraße and Burgstraße, the Theatrium offers an impressive variety. On five stages—at Bowling Green, Warmer Damm, Burgstraße, the concert shell, and in the spa gardens near Toggo (Saturday and Sunday)—visitors can expect a varied program of dance, live music, and shows. Walking acts provide spontaneous, charming encounters and a lively atmosphere every day.

Opening

The grand opening will take place on Friday at 6 p.m. on the stage at Bowling Green, hosted by Mayor Gert-Uwe Mende and Mayor Christiane Hinninger.

Five stages with shows, music & dance

A varied program will be presented on several stages:

  • at the Bowling Green (in front of the Kurhaus),
  • on Warmer Damm,
  • in front of the concert shell,
  • on Burgstraße,
  • the Arena of Skills in front of the Hotel Nassauer Hof,
  • Toggo-Kinderland in the Kurpark

Arts and crafts market

When selecting the approximately 75 artisans, priority is given to local artists, in part to ensure the shortest possible travel distance. Sustainability also plays a role in the food offerings at the approximately 170 vendor stands: As has already been the practice at the Sternschnuppenmarkt, vendors have committed to using reusable tableware or recyclable, biodegradable disposable tableware, among other measures.

Arena of Skills

In 2026, Theatrium will also introduce a new interactive area in front of the Nassauer Hof: For the first time, the "Arena of Skills"—organized by the DFL (German Football League), the DFL Foundation, and Sporthilfe—will be part of the event. Under the motto "#CHECKdeineSKILLS," children and teens can try out various sports for people with and without disabilities—including (wheelchair) basketball, parkour, (para) table tennis, and blind soccer. With each station completed, the young participants collect stamps for a raffle. Parents will receive on-site information about sports clubs and programs for a healthy, active upbringing. With a little luck, visitors may even meet well-known sports role models.

Toggo-Kinderland

Families are sure to have a great time this year at the new, even larger Toggo-Kinderland in the spa gardens: exciting activities await our youngest guests, including play areas, hands-on activities, and an entertaining program on the Showtruck stage.

The history of the Theatrium

The Theatrium was launched in 1977 to mark the reopening of the renovated Hessian State Theater. The following year, sections of Wilhelmstraße were closed off for the first time—the event became the “Wilhelmstraße Festival,” which has grown into a true classic over the years.
