Theatrium - Celebrate on the Rue

The Theatrium is just around the corner: One of Wiesbaden’s oldest and most popular festivals, the Theatrium, returns to the “Rue” from Friday through Sunday, June 11–13, 2027, featuring music, performances, and plenty of delicious treats.

There will be plenty of celebrations around the Kurhaus and on the Bowling Green in 2027 as well.

The 48th Theatrium, one of Germany’s oldest street festivals, is expected to draw over 100,000 people to downtown Wiesbaden again in 2027, from Friday, June 11, through Sunday, June 13. Wilhelmstraße will be transformed into a mile-long festival zone featuring music, dance, food, and culture.

A special highlight of the program will once again be performances by numerous dance schools. The performances range from classical ballet to modern street dance.

With nearly 240 booths, including a large arts and crafts market in front of the concert shell in the Kurpark as well as a diverse range of dining options along the entire length of Wilhelmstraße and Burgstraße, the Theatrium offers an impressive variety. On five stages—at Bowling Green, Warmer Damm, Burgstraße, the concert shell, and in the Kurpark—visitors can expect a varied program of dance, live music, and shows. Walking acts ensure spontaneous, charming encounters and a lively atmosphere every day.

Opening

The grand opening will take place on Friday at 6 p.m. on the stage at Bowling Green.

When selecting artisans, priority is given to local artists, in part to ensure the shortest possible travel distance. Sustainability also plays a role in the food offerings at the market stalls: As has already been the practice at the Sternschnuppenmarkt and on Rue 2026, vendors have committed to using reusable tableware or recyclable, biodegradable disposable tableware, among other measures.

The history of the Theatrium

The Theatrium was launched in 1977 to mark the reopening of the renovated Hessian State Theater. The following year, sections of Wilhelmstraße were closed off for the first time—the event became the “Wilhelmstraße Festival,” which has grown into a true classic over the years.
