Theatrium - Celebrate on the Rue

One of the oldest and most popular festivals in Wiesbaden, the Theatrium, attracted visitors to the "Rue" from Friday to Sunday, June 13 to 15, with music, shows and lots of delicacies.

There is plenty of partying around the Kurhaus and on the bowling green.

The 46th Theatrium, one of Germany's oldest street festivals, attracted over 100,000 people to Wiesbaden's city center from 13 to 15 June 2025. Wilhelmstraße was transformed into a kilometer-long festival mile with music, dance, culinary delights and culture.

Neither the summer heat nor intermittent rain showers could dampen the exuberant atmosphere. The audience celebrated happily and peacefully until late in the evening.

A special highlight of the program was the performance of eleven dance schools with a total of around 1,000 participants. The performances ranged from classical ballet to modern street dance and were very well received by the audience.

Another attraction was the Mediterranean themed area "Ciao Italia" on the Warmen Damm. It offered Italian music and food and was reminiscent of the popular festival from the 1980s in terms of design and atmosphere.

In addition, a French market with culinary specialties and an arts and crafts market with regional exhibitors rounded off the program. Among other things, jewelry, ceramics and handmade accessories were offered here.

The next Theatrium is planned for June 12 to 14, 2026.

Seven stages with shows, music & dance

A varied program was offered on seven stages:

  • on the Warmen Damm,
  • in front of the concert shell
  • in the Burgstraße,
  • in front of the Hotel Nassauer Hof
  • at the Kureck,
  • on the Warmen Damm to the right Ciao Italia

In addition to cult bands such as the "Nightbirds" and the "Urban Club Band", newcomers such as BUZZ, Bockband, Taikee and DJ Master Noise will also be playing.

Arts and crafts market

When selecting the 70 or so artisans, emphasis was placed on regionality, partly to ensure the shortest possible journey. Sustainability also played a role in the catering on offer at the 170 or so stalls: as already practiced at the Sternschnuppenmarkt, the vendors had committed to using reusable tableware or recyclable, biodegradable disposable tableware, among other things.

About the history of the Theatrium

The Theatrium was launched in 1977 to mark the reopening of the renovated Hessisches Staatstheater. The following year, parts of Wilhelmstrasse were cordoned off for the first time - the event became the "Wilhelmstrasse Festival", which has developed into a real classic over the years.
