World Games Day
Streets free for children: For World Play Day, Villacher Straße in Gräselberg and Klosterweg in Klarenthal will be transformed into a play street from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 25.
On four afternoons in May, June and September, sections of the streets in Gräselberg, Klarenthal, Biebrich and Westend will be closed to traffic from 2 pm to 6 pm. Instead, the streets will be open to children, young people and families - for exercise, play and encounters.
The campaign focuses on the right to play, leisure and recreation, as enshrined in Article 31 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
The local children's, youth and district centers offer hands-on activities. Children can drive a slide car, play tag or bounce in bouncy boxes. Anyone who wants to can bring a picnic blanket and take the opportunity to exchange ideas with others.
The play streets take place on the following days:
- Sunday, May 25, Villacher Straße, Gräselberg
- Sunday, May 25, Klosterweg, Klarenthal
- Sunday, June 15, Bunsenstraße, Biebrich
- Friday, September 19, Wellritzstraße, Westend
The campaign is coordinated by the Office for Social Work, Youth Work Department. It cordially invites all interested parties to take part and experience the play streets as a meeting place.
