State program WIR-Vielfaltszentren
The aim of the state program "WIR - Diversity Centers" is to promote the implementation of a future-oriented integration policy for people with a migration background and for the entire Hessian society.
The state program focuses on promoting a culture of welcome and recognition, developing strategies for opening up to diversity and intensifying cooperation between the state and local authorities. With the redesign of the funding program in 2021, funding and advice for non-profit migrant associations and the development of municipal diversity and integration strategies in municipalities and communities have also been included as fixed funding components in the guidelines.
Funding for partial or full financing can be applied for:
- Funding for non-profit migrant organizations
- Funding for projects to promote a culture of welcome and recognition and intercultural openness as well as funding for projects with new innovative approaches.
- Funding for the qualification and deployment of volunteer integration guides.
- Funding for volunteer lay interpreters.
Public, church and independent organizations as well as migrant organizations are eligible to apply for the WIR Diversity Centres funding program. Information on funding can be found on the Integrationskompass Hessen (opens in a new tab) website, as well as by telephone or email from the WIR coordinators in the state capital of Wiesbaden.
Implementation in Wiesbaden
The WIR Diversity Center of the state capital Wiesbaden is staffed by two WIR coordinators. The focus is on the intercultural opening of the cultural sector and the development of social spaces in terms of a culture of welcome and recognition. In 2021, a contact point for migrant organizations was also established to strengthen cooperation between migrant associations and the city administration. The state capital of Wiesbaden has been part of the state program WIR-Vielfaltszentren since the "Model Region Integration" in 2016.
