WTHC: 2nd Bundesliga

A successful finish: The WTHC wrapped up the regular season of the 2nd Bundesliga on Sunday, June 14, with a 6-2 home win against Nürnberger HTC, finishing in third place in the standings.

Final: 6–2 vs. Nürnberger HTC

The regular season of the 2nd Bundesliga South field hockey league came to a close on Sunday, June 14, with a home game against Nürnberger HTC at Nerotal. A win would guarantee Wiesbaden at least fourth place. In the end, the WTHC achieved the hoped-for victory with a 6-2 win. And since TC BW Berlin lost its final match, the WTHC overtook them to finish the season in a strong third place in the standings. 

Double matchday in Berlin and Cöthener HC 02

After a brief break, the WTHC returned to action in the 2nd Bundesliga South with a doubleheader on the first weekend of June. To kick things off, the Wiesbaden hockey players visited third-place TC BW Berlin and suffered a 1-4 defeat. On Sunday, the WTHC visited the last-place team, Cöthener HC 02, and secured a decisive 5-1 victory, thereby solidifying their fourth-place position in the 2nd Bundesliga South.

3:4 in the away game in Ludwigsburg

On the final match day in May, the WTHC traveled to face HC Ludwigsburg. Despite leading 2–1 at halftime, the Wiesbaden team ultimately suffered a 3–4 loss and remain in fourth place in the 2. Bundesliga Süd standings.

Double home matchday against Berlin teams

The WTHC continued with a doubleheader at home against two Berlin teams. On Saturday, May 9, the WTHC hosted the Zehlendorfer Wespen and suffered a clear 0–3 defeat. But the WTHC men bounced back just one day later, defeating the previous league leaders, Berliner HC, 6-5, despite trailing 2-4 at halftime. The clear improvement in performance paid off. The WTHC now sits in fourth place in the standings behind three Berlin clubs.

2:3 after guest appearance in Frankenthal

The WTHC’s third game of 2026 in the 2. Bundesliga South took place at TG Frankenthal. In the end, they suffered a narrow 2-3 loss in a shootout, but were able to take one point back to Wiesbaden. The WTHC currently sits in fourth place in the standings with 22 points.

Home match: 5:2 against HG Nuremberg

The WTHC continued its campaign in the tightly contested 2. Bundesliga on the second matchday of the second half of the season with a home game against HG Nürnberg, which sits second-to-last in the standings. In the end, the WTHC secured a 5-2 victory in front of its home crowd and has firmly established itself in the upper half of the table.

Start of second half of field season with 3:2 against Stuttgart

The indoor season ended long ago, and now the Wiesbaden hockey players of the WTHC have kicked off the second half of the outdoor season in the 2nd Bundesliga South. In their first outdoor home game of the year, Wiesbaden defeated the Stuttgart Kickers 3–2 after a thrilling match and now sit in third place with 18 points.

Other opponents in the second half of the 2025/26 field season will include the teams from Berliner HC, Zehlendorfer Wespen, TC Blau-Weiß Berlin, Nürnberger HTC, HG Nürnberg, HC Ludwigsburg, TG Frankenthal, and Cöthener HC.
