Start of the year against Frankenthal

The WTHC will continue the indoor season of the 2nd Bundesliga Group Spd in the new year on Saturday, January 17, starting at 2:30 p.m. at TG Frankenthal. A real top match, as the second and first teams in the table meet. WTHC lost the first leg 6:7 after leading 5:3. Time for revenge.

Two wins on double matchday against Nuremberg teams

Shortly before Christmas, a double match day awaited the WTHC. On Saturday, December 20, the Wiesbaden team hosted Nuremberg HTC and hoped to secure their third win of the season against their neighbors in the table. They achieved this with an 8:4 victory thanks to a strong second half, as the score was still 2:2 at the break after two quarters.

Things got tougher on Sunday, December 21, when WTHC went into the game against the previous league leaders HG Nuremberg as underdogs. However, this game was also won clearly with 11:6. The score was still 2:2 at half-time, meaning that WTHC went into the break with twelve points and in second place.

Home match: 6:7 against TG Frankenthal

On the fourth matchday, the next home game awaited the WTHC's Bundesliga field hockey team. TG Frankenthal were the guests in Wiesbaden and the WTHC was hoping for win number three in the current indoor season. But in the end, the Wiesbaden team conceded a second defeat with a score of 6:7. And this after leading 5:3 at the break. A wasted victory shortly before the third Advent.

Hesse derbies: victories against 1. Hanuer THC and Rüsselsheimer RK

The WTHC continued in the 2nd Bundesliga with two Hesse derbies on a double match day. On St. Nicholas' Day, 1. Hanauer THC visited WTHC in Wiesbaden for the first Hesse derby and Wiesbaden landed their first win of the still young indoor season with a 5-4 victory. And just one day later, Rüsselsheimer RK was also defeated 5:4. A successful weekend for the WTHC field hockey players.

Prelude: 4:7 at HG Nuremberg

To kick off the 2025/26 Bundesliga 2 indoor season, the WTHC men's first team played against HG Nürnberg - as always on the difficult Nuremberg hall floor, which is a real challenge for guests. In the first half, the Wiesbaden team failed to capitalize on the scoring opportunities that presented themselves. HG Nürnberg exploited this phase of the game with clever and effective play. In contrast, Wiesbaden occasionally showed deficits in defense in the circle, which allowed the home side to finish off several chances.

The WTHC team reduced the deficit to 4:5 after the break with goals from Nico Rothengatter and Joel Correia, but were unable to equalize - HG Nürnberg deserved their victory.

Squad 2025/26

Stefan Zeller was able to nominate two players for the indoor squad, Peter Nölke and Tim Terstiege, who both come from the WTHC's own youth team. Leon Lindemann is back in the team after his semester abroad. Felix Langer and Victor Tschauder were still part of the second team last year and are now part of the training squad and possibly also the playing squad of the WTHC top team this year. In addition, another young and talented player, Benedict Lieb, has joined the WTHC squad from HC Ludwigsburg.

Goal for the season

Coach Stefan Zeller's goal for the 2025/26 indoor season is not just to stay in the league. The coach clearly wants to establish the team in the top half of the table and present the fans with attractive indoor field hockey with lots of goals.
