Outdoor bowling alley/curling rink
On the Platte - between the hunting lodge and the inn - the highest outdoor bowling alley opens its doors in the summer months. Since November 1, the bowling alley has been a curling facility again for the winter.
For a few years now, the city of Wiesbaden has been enriched by a leisure sports facility that is probably unique in Germany: An open-air bowling alley, beautifully situated at around 500 meters in the fresh Taunus air, making it the highest bowling alley in Germany. The lane can be easily hired and is particularly interesting for groups. And in winter, the outdoor bowling alley doubles as a curling rink.
History of origin
Two members of Germany's oldest bowling club, the Kegelgesellschaft von 1855, part of the Casino Gesellschaft Wiesbaden, were looking for an outdoor bowling alley in mid-2020, as bowling in the bowling alley had to be canceled due to the coronavirus. They were unable to find a suitable lane in the Wiesbaden area. So they decided to build an outdoor bowling alley themselves. Once completed, it was to be made available to the general public. In mid-November 2020, they found a suitable location on the grounds of the "Jagdschloss Platte" inn's mini golf course. Planning could begin. The bowling alley was to be built in accordance with the specifications of the German Bowling and Skittles Association and equipped with simple mechanical lifting technology. The lane was completed in July 2021 and can now welcome guests.
Facility in a wonderful ambience
The facility can also be used in rainy weather. At dusk, the bowling alley is illuminated with the help of a solar system. The fact that it is embedded in the surrounding terrain offers ideal leisure options for families with children in particular, as the facility is located on the grounds of a mini golf course and there is a children's and adventure playground slightly below. The nearby "Jagdschloss Platte" inn and a kiosk on the grounds offer good catering.
