Skate park under the Schierstein bridge
The skate park under the Schierstein bridge has been temporarily opened and can now be used until the beginning of August.
Good news for all sports and recreation enthusiasts: The first section of the skate park under the Schierstein Bridge has been completed and is now open. The facility will be open on a temporary basis through August.
During the reconstruction of the Schiersteiner Bridge, the area underneath was used for construction site logistics. Now that the bridge is complete, the area is being redesigned. The project is part of the Rhein.Main.Ufer concept and is being implemented jointly by the Parks and Recreation Department and the City Planning Department.
Under the Schiersteiner Bridge, the city of Wiesbaden is creating a new space for exercise and recreation, and the skate park is the first step in this process. The city made a conscious decision to open the skate park on a temporary basis so that it can be used during the summer months and does not have to remain closed until all work is completed. Requirements, ideas for use, and practical experiences were gathered in several workshops with the local skate community. These have been incorporated into the facility’s design.
Starting in August 2026, the area must be closed again for further construction work. In the subsequent construction phases, the surrounding area will be further paved. The facility will then be expanded to include, among other things, a pump track and a streetball court. A new and, so far, unique feature in the city is a permanently installed DJ booth. Users can play music here using their own smartphones.
As things stand, the entire facility is scheduled for completion in late fall 2026. The city will provide information on the exact date and an official opening in due course.
