The 2026 Langholz Cup brings together former professional soccer players and prominent guests from the worlds of sports and entertainment to raise funds for the nonprofit organization "Krebskranke Kinder Mainz e.V." For an entire day, soccer will be all about solidarity, team spirit, and active social engagement. The tournament is organized by Daniel Ritzel on behalf of Legenden für Leben.

Six teams, one goal: doing good together

Between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m., six teams will face off in a round-robin tournament. Each match lasts 30 minutes. Expected participants include:

  • Equipe Special, the traditional team of SV Wehen Wiesbaden
  • Eckerlin & Friends, the team led by and featuring MMA fighter Christian Eckerlin
  • the Kreisliga All-Stars, a selection of regional amateur soccer players
  • the DFL Legends, a selection of former Bundesliga players
  • Prime Time United, the team led by former pro Hans Sarpei
  • as well as a selection from FC Bayern Munich

Among those announced for the event are World Cup champions Lukas Podolski and Roman Weidenfeller, as well as Bundesliga stars such as Daniel Caligiuri and Moritz Leitner. In addition to their time on the field, they—like the other participants—will also be circulating around the BRITA Arena to give as many guests as possible the chance to get autographs and take photos together.

Following the final match, an after-party will take place in the Sky Lounge.
