Mammutmarsch Rhine-Main - Through forest and vineyards

When hikers set off in starting groups from Wiesbaden's Bowling Green early in the morning on August 23, they are in for a special route. The Mammutmarsch Rhein-Main offers three distances and leads through forests, vineyards, past viewpoints and historical sites.

The Neroberg Temple against the backdrop of Wiesbaden on a sunny day.

The Mammutmarsch Rhine-Main offers everything you need to become the sporting highlight of the year. This is where sporting challenge and enjoyment meet: extreme hiking fun combined with a relaxed city trip, picturesque vineyards and plenty of altitude!

This year, hikers can choose between three distances: In addition to the tried-and-tested 30 and 55-kilometer routes, a brand new 42-kilometer route awaits them for the first time.

Start & Finish Mammutlauf

Bowling Green, Kurhausplatz 1, 65189 Wiesbaden

Start times (in start groups)

30 km: approx. 8.20 to 11.40 a.m.
42 km: approx. 6.20 to 08.20 a.m.
55 km: approx. 6.20 to 08.00 a.m.

30 km: Discover Wiesbaden from its most beautiful side - with idyllic forest passages, fantastic views of the city and a detour to the Neroberg Temple.

Hunting lodge against a cloudy sky

A defining section of the route: the ascent towards Platte Hunting Lodge. The early classicist castle is enthroned on a hill above the city and its imposing silhouette makes it one of the most impressive passages of the day. Even though the building itself is not accessible on this day, participants can experience the location in its special atmosphere - surrounded by nature, panoramic views and architectural history.

42 km and 55 km: Here the route also takes you through the vineyards of the Rheingau to the banks of the Rhine. Challenging marching meets impressive panoramas over the Rhine. Highlights such as Hofgut Armada, Biebrich Castle and perhaps even a refreshing wine spritzer at Weinhof Martin await you along the way.

In addition to the classic finisher beer, a cool wine or juice spritzer awaits the athletes as a reward. If you want to experience perhaps the most beautiful mammoth march route - follow Goethe's advice and join us!

Whether short or long, sporty or decelerated: The Mammutmarsch combines exercise with nature, challenge with pleasure - and places like the Platte Hunting Lodge with very personal stage moments.
