Shaping the heating transition - an opportunity for the location and the future

How can the heating transition succeed at municipal and company level? This question was the focus of the joint event of the Wiesbaden Environmental Agency and the Wiesbaden Chamber of Industry and Commerce, which took place on July 1 under the title "Shaping the heating transition - an opportunity for the location and the future".

Municipal heat planning and operational heat supply

Participants from business, administration and science exchanged views on current developments, legal framework conditions and practical implementation options. Political change in the energy sector is increasing the pressure on companies to act. In order to remain competitive and resilient, it is crucial to deal with the heating transition at an early stage.

In addition to an introductory keynote speech on the political classification of the heating transition for municipalities and companies, the Wiesbaden Environmental Agency and ESWE Versorgung AG jointly reported on the current status and prospects of municipal heating planning, including an overview of the status in Taunusstein.

The second part of the event focused entirely on the corporate heat transition. Two presentations showed how companies can take concrete action. The Klimaschutzagentur Wiesbaden e.V. (Wiesbaden Climate Protection Agency) illustrated starting points for increasing energy efficiency in the heating sector. Speakers from Qoncept Energy and the University of Kassel presented the first steps towards using industrial waste heat. The two inputs were supplemented by practical examples from the companies MEWA Textil-Service, Abbott GmbH and KISICO Kirchner, Simon & Co. GmbH. They showed how a wide range of measures - whether waste heat utilization, process optimization, system adaptation, cascade control and heating renewal - can be used to advance the heat transition in the company.
