Urban living space - every square meter counts
How much space does a city need - and how much space is left for nature? The exhibition "City living space - every square meter counts" in the Umweltladen shows how Wiesbaden uses its space carefully and what everyone can do to conserve it.
Until February 28, 2026, the Umweltladen Wiesbaden invites you to the exhibition "City living space - every square meter counts". Illustrative banners and exciting exhibits make it clear why space is so precious - and how sustainable urban development can help to preserve it.
Wiesbaden is one of the greenest cities in Germany: more than half of the city's 20,000 hectares consist of forests, meadows, agricultural and recreational areas. This combination of city and nature contributes significantly to the high quality of life. But Wiesbaden is growing - and every new residential building, workplace or road takes up space. Once it has been "used up", it can hardly be restored to its original state.
The exhibition shows examples of how sustainable urban development can achieve a balance between green spaces and buildings. Visitors can also find out what measures the city is already taking to conserve land and how forward-looking planning can help keep Wiesbaden liveable for future generations. The exhibition also provides practical tips on what everyone can do to help preserve valuable land.
